Senior Opto-Electronic Process Development Engineer

Job Summary

Sr Opto-Electronic Process Development Engineers participate in activities focused on developing and deploying technical solutions within the Process Development group. They contribute to the investigation, evaluation, development, and deployment of processes that use optical, microelectronic and SMT technologies, in particular processes using active alignment technology to assemble camera and projection devices. They are responsible for making sure that all deliverables of the process development project that they are in charge of are completed before transfer to a production site. They are also responsible for directing the work of process development technicians.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop manufacturable, testable processes and transfer them to mass production, in particular active alignment processes for the assembly of camera and projection devices
  • Develop and Perform FMEA, DOEs, CPK analyses, Gage R&R studies, and other analyses as required. Ensure process buy-off per Jabil standards
  • Investigate, develop, and deploy key processes assigned
  • Consistently provide innovative process solutions
  • System ownership: Qualify, configure, operate, troubleshoot and maintain active alignment equipment. Interface with suppliers for any service needs. Ensure system buy-off per Jabil standards.
  • Participate in Failure Analysis, Trouble shooting and RCCA activities in assigned processes/tasks
  • May be requested to participate in mechanical design of fixtures for precision assembly equipment
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge on the status of applicable Process Development technologies. Join technology forums, associations and attend conference, lectures, and exhibitions when possible
  • Play active role in customer RFI/RFQs response activities and the development of quotes and SOWs to meet customer and business unit expectations
  • Participate in project planning
  • Attend customer meetings in support of Jabil business development as requested
  • Provide effective work direction for technicians assigned to project
  • Create and organize appropriate documentation and records for experiments, analysis etc.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge on the status of applicable Process Development technologies. Join technology forums, associations and attend conference, lectures, and exhibitions when possible
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Management & Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Job is NOT directly responsible for managing other employees (e.g., hiring/termination and/or pay decisions, performance management
Knowledge Requirements
  • Hands-on experience with several of the following process technologies: Active Alignment (preferred), camera module focusing/testing, adhesive technology (including dispensing and curing), Chip on Board (die placement and wire bonding)
  • Demonstrated experience with process assembly equipment, materials, analytical tools, test methods etc. that are used by the Process Development team, in particular active alignment systems such as those made by Kasalis and AEI, as well as camera module test equipment such as those made by HyVision
  • Solid knowledge of optics and related technologies (image sensors and light sources, in particular laser diodes and light emitting diodes)
  • Understanding of microelectronics, SMT and materials as it applies to Imaging and Projection products
  • Understanding of Development or New Product Introduction Steps/Cycle. Field of Camera Module & Projection Module Assembly is desirable
  • Knowledge of mechanical design and associated SW tools (esp. SolidWorks) is also desirable
  • Recognized ability to write, create presentations, and speak at internal and customer meetings in English as well as in Hebrew
  • Demonstrated use of MS Word, Excel, Power Point and MiniTAB
  • Knowledge of statistical methods, tools etc.
  • Knowledge on Failure Analysis or Troubleshooting on the Field of Expertise
  • Knowledge of mechanical design and associated SW tools (esp. SolidWorks) is also desirable
  • Knowledge of project planning and management
  • Collaborate, exercise courtesy & respect to all Jabil, supplier, and customer personnel
  • Complete training requirements identified by department manager (including Success Factors)
  • Comply with departmental time tracking procedures for all work performed
  • Comply and follow all procedures within the company security policy

  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and specifications
  • Possess a current, valid passport
Education & Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree required in an engineering discipline from a college or university related to a technology field
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing and/or technical development environment, Field of Camera Module & Projection Module Assembly is desirable
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience
  • Maintain membership in at least one recognized professional association (i.e. SPIE, SMTA, MEPTEC)
